How to open Xenapp applications using the installed Citrix Workspace client instead of the browser.

Citrix Workspace App is a universal software client that allows you to instantly access anytime, anywhere all your workspace services without the trouble of individually sign-on, confusing. The new Citrix Workspace app (formerly known as Citrix Receiver) provides a great user experience — a secure, contextual, and unified workspace — on any device. It gives you instant access to all.

If you open a program in Citrix Workspace, and it opens in a browser window instead of using the desktop client, you will need to switch receivers.

There are two options when choosing what 'Receiver' to use:
  1. Desktop client
  2. The light version, which displays the program in your browser
If you are currently using the in-browser version (Option 2 above) and you wish to change to the desktop client:
  1. Go to https://remote.engr.wisc.edu.
  2. In the upper right hand side of the window, select your username, and choose 'Account settings'
  3. In the window that comes up, choose which receiver you would like to use, the first option for the desktop client, the second option for the web-browser-based interface.

4. Once choosing Option 1, following the instructions according to your operating system:

Citrix Workspace app 2006 for Windows was released on June 3rd 2020. However, post release it was discovered that this version of the application did not detect the native workspace app when you login to Workspace for Web in some scenarios. Dual boot linux osx.

Citrix is committed to delivering quality releases to customers. With this in view, Citrix Workspace app 2006 for Windows has been re-released on June 5th, 2020 with a fix to the aforementioned issue.
Citrix Workspace app 2006.1 for Windows replaces Citrix Workspace app 2006 for Windows.
Citrix recommends that you update to Citrix Workspace app 2006.1 for Windows.The latest version of Citrix Workspace app for Windows can be downloaded here.
